Nitroflight Challenge Finals:

Sunday the 14th of March saw the final round of the Nitroflight challenge held at Stocksbridge Remote Control Car Club,  the club had done a fantastic job all series with the event a raffle at every round prizes for the winners at every round plus some huge trophies for the fastest 1st 2nd and 3rd in each class. The battle for driver supremacy was competed over four classes the formula 1 of the racing world the pro-stock touring class with 13.5 class supporting it, the 1/12th class and the slow growing popularity of the GT10 class.

The track was suppose to be a copy of the snowbirds track keeping the touring car drivers optimistic with it being more open, but it seemed to get a lot tighter and slower than it should have been. In the pits there wasn’t too many changes to my photon car the car had the same set up that i run at the last round where I took TQ, I prepared the car well for this run cleaning all the bearings and re assembling the shocks so we were raring to go. New parts in the pits was Chris Bosomworth challenging for the 1/12 title had his new serpent link car which seemed to be a early pace setter. It was the same procedure for practice a 5 minute timed session, I used this time to run a fresh set of tyres in scrub them up a little ready for the qualifiers.

Qualifying:

Going into round 1 of qualifying in pro stock there was a three way battle for the pole position this time with myself, Johnny Aird and Schumacher's entry Adam Catchpole. In round 1 it was really tight at the top with three drivers being covered by only 3 seconds Adam Catchpole in first Johnny Aird in second and Adam Howe in third. It was tight at the top with the track making it difficult for any overtaking. My car was handling well and I was quite confident of the car going into round 2.

Round 2 of qualifying in pro stock saw me step it up a gear with a pinion change to try and get past 1st and 2nd place, I managed to pass the newly crowned Nitroflight challenge champion in pro stock Johnny Aird up the inside and in his rush to re take the place he made a uncharacteristic error and broke his car, I then began to hunt down the leader Adam Catchpole who after my battle with Johnny was half a lap up but i managed to claw some time back and get within a couple of corners of him I managed to improve my time.

Round 3 of qualifying saw a surprising change in events Johnny Aird retired from the days racing unable to replace a part for his Hot Bodies car. This run turned into a disaster for me which set the tone for the racing for the racing for the rest of the day with a front spool problem that we later found to be a problem with the bearing cam we too like Johnny retired from this run.

Finals:

Unfortunately for me the finals didn’t go too well for me with the bearing cam problem still hanging over my car and we unfortunately ended up retiring from both finals half way through each run and we managed 4th overall, I was disapointed with this result but it didn’t cost me anything in the championship as i had already secured 2nd place in the championship only to A team HB driver Johnny Aird.

Well done to all trophy winners and to Stocksbridge and Nitroflight challenge for a series well run.

ANOTHER FANTASTIC RESULT FOR THE MMRUK TOP PHOTON TEAM WITH ADAM HOWE 2ND OVERALL.

My thanks go out to Much-More Racing for their support especially Brian Eldridge (Top Photon team driver).
