Much More Trio take top spots at BRCA nationals - Cotswolds Round 2 The 2nd leg of 2010 BRCA championship was held at the exciting Cotswold track over the weekend 12th/13th June. Cotswolds had invested well to provide mains electric for the meeting and this went really good with everyone. Team Much More were well represented both by a number of Sponsored drivers and the UK BRCA National TOP Photon team. A report on the TOP team will follow. The weather was unpredictable depending on which forecast was taken but in the end it stayed dry all weekend adding excitement to the spectacle. As it was only a few miles down the road it poured down and could have been so much different for the meeting. The new rules again add to the improvement made by the BRCA last winter and recent Chris Grainger has put in a number of 16.0 sec laps threatening to break into a sub 16 sec lap many times in pre race testing. Many were expecting to see some major changes in timings and in the end there were some big improvements. It was good to see World Champion HB and Muchmore driver, Atsushi Hara attending the meeting an combining this with former Wold Champion Andy Moore, multiple back to back UK Champion Chris Grainger and Worlds A finalist Elliott Harper, the meeting was highly competitive with an international feel. Qualifier 1 saw Chris take the win with his Schumacher Mi4 and breaking the all important 16 sec barrier with 15.99 sec lap. Qualifier 2 saw Elliott taking the win with his Tamiya 416 and smashed the previous track record with 19 laps in 306secs. Averaging 16.1secs laps. Qualifier 3 again saw Elliott take the win with Chris having a really unfortunate incident taking him out of contention for the overnight slot. Overnight it was Elliott Harper in the lead ahead of Olly Jefferies in 2nd with Jonny Aird in 3rd Qualifier 4 saw Chris take the win with a great drive ahead of Elliott leaving the TQ position open for battle in the last round of qualifying! Qualifier 5 saw Elliott again take the win and set a new individual lap record at 15.85secs. For the finals Elliott took TQ, Chris no.2 spot, Olly in no. 4, Andy Moore and Atsushi Hara were also in the A main with all drivers using Much More products throughout their pit tables. Andy was unlucky not to qualify higher due to small problems and Hara got faster with every run that he did on the track The finals went to plan for Elliott who took 3 “pole to flag” wins with his Tamiya that was performing well on this Cotswolds track. Chris concentrated on making sure he maintained his Championship point’s position and his 2nd place was never really threatened with his consistently fast driving. The 3rd place slot was more closely fought over and Schumacher driver Colin Price was in well in contention with Olly Jefferies and Jonny Aird close on his heels. It was all open for the 3rd Final and the eager crowd wanted to see a closely fought race and in the end they were given a good performance. Unfortunately Colin Price was late on the track and had to start from the back. This opened up the possibility for 3rd place between Olly and Jonny Aird and in the end Olly came through to take the last slot on the podium to make it a lock out on the podium for Much More! Olly was consistent throughout the weekend and this paid off, being rewarded by his podium finish. Atsushi Hara certainly enjoyed the event and found the whole meeting challenging and was impressed by the standards and skills of the drivers. There was even a suggestion that he may return to another meeting and we are all looking forward to welcoming him back in the future! The event went really well and everyone is now looking forward to Round 3 in July at Aldershot. Many thanks to everyone in the BRCA for organising the event and to Cotswolds for putting on such a great welcome! The top 3 drivers used the Muchmore LEGEND series of power supplies and chargers as well as Muchmore accessories. |
