Livvy's Smile Charity Race at Tamworth RRAC Print E-mail

Last Saturday saw Tamworth Radio Racing Auto Club host the Livvy's smile charity race, held to raise money for Livvy’s smile. On the 7th of November 2008 Olivia Georgia Meredith sadly passed away after suffering from the neurological condition Rett Syndrome.

“This charity has been set up to bring smiles to disabled children like Livvy. Children who deal with so much each and every day. We want to be able to send them on daytrips, arrange school workshops and lots lots more.We also wish to support the great work that is done by EST Donkeys in Sutton Park. This charity brought many smiles to Livvy's face as she had her weekly therapy on the donkeys. This special needs centre charges nothing but gives so much. We want to help make sure they can always do this. We would also like to carry on our support of Rett Syndrome UK a charity who works hard raising awareness and bringing support to families with this condition”

With over 70 entries spread over pro-stock touring cars, stock touring cars, 18th scale buggies and 12th scale pan cars, and with raffle with prizes donated by various sponsors over £800 was raised for the charity making the meeting a great success.

Representing Much More in the pro stock was team driver Tom Jefferies who was running the new Team Wave RB-50 brushless Speedo controller for the first time at a race meeting. With open practice, 3 rounds of qualifying and 1 final there was plenty of time to get his team associated tc5 dialled back into carpet after a month of solid tarmac testing in preparation for the upcoming brca tc nationals.

With practice over and the necessary gearing changes made Tom set about trying to get the most out of his rb-50 Speedo. After turning up the initial brake and making the most of the turbo boost feature that is built into the speed controller Tom went on to Tq all 3 rounds of qualifying ending up a lap clear of second place setting himself up in pole position for the pro-stock A final. After a good start Tom led for the first 5 laps but due to some slightly over zealous driving by a back marker Tom was tagged, tucking his shell up dropping him down to last place and a lap behind. Although he managed to un lap himself and run the fastest lap of the day he only managed to fight back up to 8th overall. Tom said “the speed controller performed faultlessly all day, the power was immense. On a larger track I would have had no problems overtaking people on the straight!!! Although I didn’t convert the pole position into a win I was more than happy with the knowledge I gained about my new speed controller and after all the day was about raising money and awareness"
