New season same old faces as Muchmore drivers dominated the first round of this years BRCA 1:10 touring car championship. Andy Moore snuck up on the pack to steal pole in the final run of Qualifying on Sunday lunch time, up to that point it was looking good for fellow Muchmore team drivers Olly Jefferies and Chris Grainger.
By the end of qualifying on Sunday Muchmore team drivers held the top four places on the grid with Andy Moore’s Cyclone on pole from Olly’s Associated TC5 second, early pace setter Chris Grainger lined up third with his new Schumacher Mi4 while Elliott Harper made it four different cars in the top four with his X-ray.
The first final and Andy eased away from Olly for a clean flag to flag victory, Olly just missing a little pace on old tyres. Chris and Elliott both had troubled runs and left themselves a lot to do in the remaining two finals. Another win for Andy in leg two gave him the overall win, Olly was third and was looking good for second place behind his old Hot Bodies team mate but the last final was a disaster for Olly and he would end up third on the day behind the Tamiya of Glen Doman. Chris Grainger and Elliott Harper both had days they would rather forget but expect both drivers to bounce back at the next round at Halifax. Ben Cosgrove looked quick all weekend but he struggled to reacclimatise to the Hot Bodies Cyclone after two season with X-Ray. For Andy it’s a great start and the best start he has made to a domestic season for some time, he will now be looking to build on this strong result, Olly was not too disappointed with third as he continues to max out the performance of the TC5.
