1-2 for Muchmore at Carpet Wars World Cup Print E-mail

The Carpet Wars Two Day World Cup is now one of the biggest indoor carpet races on the UK winter calendar and the 2009 race saw an emphatic 1-2 for Muchmore UK drivers Elliott Harper and Olly Jefferies.

The Black Lion leisure centre is the preferred venue for the Two Day World Cup, organising Club Maritime Racing preferring to use this venue rather than there purpose built indoor track at Chatham Docks. 16 heats covering Five Cell Modified, Pro stock,13.5,World GT and a class for 6.5 lipo were included into the format for 2009 and things got away early on Saturday morning with a round of controlled practise.

Round one saw X-Ray driver Elliott Harper hit the front followed by the Associated TC5 of Olly Jefferies, Elliott went on to set the pace in the next three rounds holding a comfortable advantage over the chasing pack, then in the last round of Saturday qualifying Olly put in a quick run which took him to within four tenths of second behind Elliott, behind the another Muchmore driver Andy Moore was picking up his pace and starting to match the two front runners pace.

Sunday morning and one more round of qualifying, Olly made a set up change that he hoped would help him challenge Elliott, but it did not work and Olly pulled off and watched as the majority of the quick drivers improved their times, Olly dropped to third in the final round while Andy Moore jumped up to second, this saw a straight Muchmore 1-2-3 in qualifying with Elliott dominating up front ahead of Andy and Olly.

Elliott continued to dominate winning all three legs of the finals, two second places were enough to secure Olly second place with Adam Rogers back for a long touring car lay off third. Andy Moore suffered in the finals a little but did enough to secure fourth.
