This years CML Carpet Masters series kicked off at Stafford on Sunday and saw a victory for Muchmore team Driver Olly Jefferies. The CML Carpet Masters series is one of the longest established winter championships, despite not having a modified class it offered Olly Jefferies more testing miles with his new Associated TC5, working closely with new team mate Andy Robson for the first time Olly was quickly on the pace, also present was Associated supremo Craig Drescher.
“Running 10.5 Pro Stock is OK on a small track like Stafford is OK, the car still feels quick and you need to drive with more accuracy, and the main reason for entering was to work on set ups, Andy races at this venue a lot so it also gave me the chance to gauge my pace against my new team mate” Olly said. At the end of qualifying it was Olly who had secured FTD ahead of Andy giving the CML Associated team a 1-2, Ian Whittingham completed the top three for Yokomo. In the finals Andy took leg one and Olly the second leg, overall victory went to Olly due to his FTD. “I think as a team we got a lot out this test, for me the car is still new so I have no datum to work from, the car certainly feels good but you need to be competing to establish its true pace, Andy certainly feels we are moving in the right direction and he would know having driven the TC5 for the past two seasons, and having plenty of testing miles with the car around the indoor track at Stafford” Olly said. The next round of the Carpet Masters is 7th December…
