Much More Driver - Elliott Harper wins the Wars Round 1 Print E-mail
The 2008/9 Winter indoor series kicked off with Carpet Wars at the premier indoor venue of Maritime Raceway, Chatham in Kent. With just over 100 attendees covering 4 classes of racing it was always going to be exciting and varied event.

The club had recently added further improvements including additional pitting to accommodate approx 110 drivers, up from 80 seats, each with their own pit space served by mains electric. Additional features were added such as 4 large screen TVs, CCTV coverage and recording of the track .

Over the while weekend the "Maritime Munch" canteen was kept very busy. The club have made a major investment recently and this is available for testing on most Saturdays at low cost.
There was controlled practice in heats on the Sunday mooring and the format was 4 qualifiers and 1 final.

The initial modified qualifier saw Elliott Harper set the pace taking FTD in front of team mates Olly Jefferies and Chris Grainger.   A similar result in the 2nd qualifier and in the 3rd Elliott Xray was showing some blistering pace setting the only 27 lap time and taking FTD by some 8 seconds in front of Olly.

The final also showed how quick the Xray was on this high grip track and even although the race wasn't without incident for everyone, Elliott took the win. Chris took 2nd and Olly secured 6th place after an earlier retirement.
