BRCA 1/12th Nationals – Chesterfield
The initial meeting of the 2008/09 National 1/12th scale was held at Chesterfield over the weekend 13/14th September 2008. The event was well attended with 8 heats over both days. Saturday saw the 10.5T brushless class with Sunday covering Open modified and Sportsman Classes.
Much More drivers attending the event with Ben Cosgrove coming back for his first National showing in a few years, Stu Noble entering his first 1/12th scale National and Elliott Harper in his 2nd 1/12th appearance. Other dedicated Much More 1/12th drivers attending included Kev Creaser, Alan Curry and Alex Curry.
Elliott Harper was the only member of the team in attendance for the 10.5T class on the Saturday and secured 8th place on the grid and completed the day in overall 9th place. Elliott was pleased to have secured the A final place on the day.
On the Sunday Elliott was joined for the Open Modified class by Ben and Stu both eager to do well. By the end of qualification both Ben and Elliott had achieved an A final place with Elliott placed 4th on the grid and was unlucky not to have been higher.
Last years champion, Andy Griffiths set the early pace but was overtaken by Russell Williams early on. At this point Elliott had moved up to 3rd place and the 3 cars were moving around at a fast pace. A minor error from Russell opened the door for Andy to take the lead back and Elliott passed by into 2nd and this is how it finished on the day, with Elliott securing 2nd place on his 2nd National 1/12th meeting.
Overall this was a great start to the 2008/9 indoor season and thanks to all the Chesterfield club members who put so much effort into the day.
