Scythe win at BTCC - Aldershot Rd2 Print E-mail

Round 2 of the BTCC was hosted by the very different Aldershot track, the track consists of fast, slow and even a large banked corner which was very difficult to get right as many drivers found out during the early practice stages.

Jimmy Maddison quickly learnt his way around this very fast and demanding track with the help of a fellow T.O.P driver local superstar Glen Westwood, who wasn’t racing but decided to help make sure the team got to grips with the car and track.
After practice had ended Jimmy Maddisons M.H.P powered Scythe was the class of the field setting lap times which was very promising and was looking confident going into race day.

Round 1 of qualifying
Jimmy’s T.O.P Racing Scythe was once again the class of the field in 19t almost lapping everyone in the top heat, but a slight timing issue  meant not having a recorded run on the time sheets. Im sure Glen won’t do that again in a hurry…. In stock Jay Westwood  drove a very good run which put him 2nd overall in the round with his T.O.P Racing Scythe.

Round 2 of qualifying
This round with transponder in hand well in advance Jimmy had it all to do so it wasn’t left all until the last round of qualifying.

Jimmy carved through the field with awesome pace and after the 5 minute run Jimmy topped the timing sheets by a whole 10 seconds  also achieving a new track record and the only driver to achieve 21 laps in the 19t class Jay Westwood also laid the challenge to the rest of the 27t runners by placing himself at the top of the timing sheets at the end of this round with a faultless run.

Round 3 of qualifying

The final round of qualifying with the track at it hottest saw no improvement for Jimmy Maddison , but It certainly showed the pace of the other T.O.P runners with Remo Cassida also making the top 10 in the ultra competitive 19t class
Jay Westwood improved on his previous TQ time by a second only for him to lose it by 0.5 second when the top heat went out.. Still a very good result, also a very well done to Dan and Ian making the show with their Scythes.

The Mains were very much like qualifying with Jimmy taking control of the race to finish first in both the finals giving him TQ the Win and a new Track Record Jay Westwood drove awesome in both finals to give him 2nd overall in the stock class. Both drivers also used their new additive 'Westwood FX' which will be available very soon!  Jimmy would also like to thank Glen for all his hard work over the weekend!

Congratulations to all drivers using T.O.P and Muchmore Products
